About 1SecondSearch
1SecondSearch was created around a simple idea: finding something in a large database should not require a long series of clicks, dropdowns, filters, and category selections.
Many companies have spent years building valuable databases, catalogs, inventories, directories, and structured data systems. The information may be excellent, but the way customers search that information can feel outdated, especially on a mobile device.
A Better Way to Search Existing Data
1SecondSearch is being developed to help turn complex search processes into simpler natural-language experiences.
Instead of requiring a customer to understand how a database is organized, the goal is to let the customer describe what they are looking for in ordinary language and use that request to narrow the available data.
For example, a traditional automotive parts database might require someone to select a year, make, model, engine, category, subcategory, position, and part type before seeing a result.
A 1SecondSearch-style experience could allow that same person to simply say:
I need a passenger-side mirror for a 2019 pickup.
The same concept can apply far beyond automotive parts.
Built for Large and Complicated Databases
Potential applications include:
- New automotive parts catalogs
- Used and salvage inventory
- Industrial products and replacement parts
- Equipment databases
- Technical catalogs
- Large inventories
- Directories and listings
- Legacy search systems
The Data May Not Be the Problem
One of the ideas behind 1SecondSearch is that a company may not need to replace the database it has spent years building.
The opportunity may be to create a better search layer on top of that existing information, making it easier for customers to find what they need without forcing them to learn the structure of the database first.
Designed With Mobile Users in Mind
Search systems built around large desktop forms and long chains of dropdown menus can become especially frustrating on phones.
1SecondSearch is intended to explore a different approach: fewer steps, clearer results, natural-language input, and interfaces designed for modern devices.
What We’re Building
1SecondSearch is currently in development.
We are exploring how modern search technology can be applied to large structured databases while preserving the valuable data companies already have.
If you operate a database, catalog, directory, or inventory system that is difficult for customers to search, we’d be interested in hearing about it.
